The Youth Council brings together young people with a strong sense of responsibility, vision, and a global outlook. It serves as a platform to nurture the next generation of leaders through meaningful engagement in community service, social initiatives, and youth-led projects. By actively participating in real-world actions, members develop leadership, collaboration, and a deep sense of civic responsibility. Through service and collaboration, members grow into compassionate, responsible, and forward-thinking individuals who are committed to creating positive and sustainable impact in their communities and the wider world.

Community Volunteer Service Program

Through the 30-hour Volunteer Service Program, primarily targeting youth aged 8-18, various volunteer projects are conducted, involving participation in a range of public welfare activities and community cooperation. These projects aim to engage more youth in community service across fields such as healthcare, culture and arts, environmental protection, technological innovation, and multiculturalism, fostering a sense of responsibility among young individuals.

Vancouver Youth Advocacy Society（VYAS, also representing Value, Youth, Action, and Service), a Canadian government registered non-profit organization, by means of organizating and conducting commercial projects and activities, aiming to engage young people into social activities, community service and dedication to community through their mutual support and team work.

PAST EVENTS

Special Needs Youth Support TraininG

VYAS conducted the Special Needs Youth Support Training for volunteers, led by instructor He Huiying. Participants gained foundational knowledge on understanding children with special needs, communication approaches, and support strategies. The training prepared volunteers for future practice activities and strengthened their readiness to provide meaningful support in community programs.

Vancouver Innovation Forum Volunteer Service

VYAS volunteers supported the Vancouver Innovation Forum by assisting with on-site operations and guest coordination. Volunteers helped maintain an organized and welcoming environment throughout the event. Their participation contributed to the smooth running of the forum while providing valuable experience in event support and community engagement.

VYAS Mini Golf Charity Activity

VYAS volunteers supported the Mini Golf Charity Activity, part of the Interest Exploration Program (IEP), led by Leaders Yu Bei Gu and Yu Lei Gu. Volunteers assisted with event coordination, supported participants throughout the activity, and helped create a positive and engaging environment. The event provided children, including those with special needs, with an opportunity to build confidence, gain experience, and participate in community activities.

Starlight Bookshop Organization Day

VYAS volunteers continued to support the Starlight Bookshop by organizing donated books. Volunteers sorted and arranged books for display, helping improve the accessibility of the space. The bookshop collects and sells second-hand books to support community programs for children and youth with special needs, while promoting reading and the sharing of resources within the community.

VYAS Youth Arts & Crafts Workshop

VYAS volunteers supported the Youth Arts & Crafts Workshop (Lacquer Fan Creative Session #17), led by Volunteer Leader Cici Zhao. Volunteers assisted with setup, supported participants during the activity, and helped create a welcoming environment. The workshop provided youth, including those with special needs, with an opportunity to explore creativity and engage in a relaxed and interactive community setting. IEP Charity Experience Camp (Dance Experience Activity)

VYAS volunteers supported the IEP Charity Experience Camp through a dance experience activity led by Leader Suris Tan. Volunteers assisted with event setup, welcomed participants and families, and supported the activity throughout the program. As part of the Youth Interest Exploration Program, the event provided children, including those with special needs, with an opportunity to explore dance, build confidence, and experience a supportive and engaging community environment.

Charity Fencing Experience Camp

VYAS volunteers supported the Charity Fencing Experience Camp as part of the Youth Interest Exploration Program. Led by Leader James Chen, the activity introduced children and youth to the sport of fencing. Volunteers assisted with event setup, welcomed participants and families, and supported the activity throughout the program. Starlight Bookshop Organization Day

VYAS volunteers gathered to help organize the Starlight Bookshop space. Volunteers assisted with sorting and arranging donated books, organizing shelves, and preparing the reading area. Their efforts helped improve the bookshop environment and support the development of the Starlight Bookshop as a welcoming reading space for youth and families.

2026 Chinese New Year Huaren Festival · Year of the Horse Spring Festival Fair

VYAS volunteers participated in the 2026 Chinese New Year Huaren Festival, a Spring Festival cultural fair celebrating the Year of the Horse. Volunteers assisted with venue setup, welcomed visitors, and supported activity areas throughout the event. Their involvement helped maintain an organized and festive environment while contributing to a lively community celebration of traditional Lunar New Year culture.
